Adam Thorpe enjoys spending time with his wife and young children in nature at their country home in Yorkshire, UK.  A protected sanctuary for wildlife and a place where Adam and his family are active in the natural environment, building beetle banks, re homing and releasing wildlife, protecting native species and enjoying the flow and serenity of the woodlands, grasslands and natural wetland environments. The estate is situated adjacent to Fountains Abbey Estate (UNESCO) and a place where 4 major Ley lines intersect creating some profound energetic qualities. 

Having 1st entered a Greenpeace competition to save the whales when he was 6 years old, Adam had another chance to be involved in what is at his heart when he had a chance call with Regina Crosby which led to the founding of OneWhale. Adam enjoys being a part of international teams tackling what he sees as the biggest issues our natural world face today, whether that be through non-profits or his main business activities.

Adam Thorpe is CEO of STARS® which is operational in the UK, Australia and North America. STARS® UK R&D partners with University of Leeds creating delicious plant-based burgers using whole foods, sustainably grown and at a price parity of beef within a decade.

STARS® is starting work in North America in Q3 2024 with Canadian academic and commercial partners in R&D, product development, manufacturing and food service. STARS® will initially operate from Saskatoon and British Columbia where the 1st North American physical locations will be opened in Whistler, Squamish and University of British Columbia.

Adam Thorpe is an experienced entrepreneur who owned and operated companies involved in real estate since 2002, his last projects in Harrogate, UK, had a combined market value of £145m when he left real estate development in 2019.

Adam Thorpe was in the process of acquiring and developing a £75m scheme, Crescent Gardens, Harrogate in the UK when funding and planning technicality’s prevented the project from moving ahead.  Adam used this crossroads as an opportunity to re-enter food and real estate, markets he knew, this time with a huge amount of purpose and passion. Adam progressed to combine real estate with his environmental purpose to co-found ARKS®. 

In his 20s Adam Thorpe ran a serviced apartment business which operated 198 serviced apartments across the UK.

By 2020 Adam had spent six years in and out of the North America developing strong relationships.   It was these friendships that led him to follow his purpose, passion and fulfil a lifetime aim of helping create organisations which will help protect our natural world, our planet.

This is where STARS® was born.
